Louise - Project Interfaith Video #1

Reflection questions this week:

What does service mean to you?
Why do you want to participate in this project?
What do you hope to get out of it?

Comments:

Louise- I love your honesty! As a former catholic myself, I understand completely the journey you are on and I think at the end of it, you'll realize that your core beliefs and values are innate. Does your family still practice catholicism? If so, how do they feel about the place you are in now?

I liked what you said about questions leading to you being unsure about your faith. What do you think will help you in the future?

tinac: I really appreciate you posting and for your support. Part of my family is still practicing catholicism, but they are supportive of my decisions and always open for a discussion.

Ryans: Experience is what I'm betting on will 'guide' me to my finding my faith. I'm a hands-on-learner and am almost certain that while exploring different faiths and cultures I will have an 'ah-ha' moment where I'll find my place and faith.

Louise! Mind blowing, you really made me think. Great job!

Really neat! I like your ideas and the way you think.

You are beautiful in mind body and soul. Love you

I like the sincerity you related in your video. I think a lot of people your age fall into the dilemma of having the disagreements they personally have with the religion they were 'raised' in, turn them away from faith entirely. You're either 'all in' on a specific religion or 'all out' from all religions. I think the way certain segments within our community promotes religion leads to these polar opposite approaches. Project Interfaith is not like that. I think you'll find that true faith consists less in dogma and practice and more in appreciating what all the world's great religions share.

Hi Louise. I enjoyed your video. I found myself in a similar situation these past couple years. I grew up Christian- sort of. My family celebrated Christman and Easter, but we rarely went to church. I took a world religions class to learn more about different faiths and I've done my own research and I find religion hipocritical, too. I really have a problem with gender roles in religion and the creation story because men are generally superior and created first (although not in Islam). I also don't like how religion discriminates people from the LGBT community. I took all of my beliefs and I decided that I was agnostic and now I consider myself atheist. It really was a journey of self-discovery. I don't think you need religion to have beliefs. I have so many beliefs and I have no religion. You just need to find out what is important to you.
