Our Mission, Vision & Values

Who are we? What do we do? What's most important to us?

Mission

Project Interfaith grows understanding, respect and relationships among people of all faiths, beliefs and cultures.

Vision

Project Interfaith strives to create a community and world where people of all faiths, beliefs and cultures are valued, included and protected. As such, we seek to serve as a leader and resource on interfaith relations and religious & cultural diversity.

How We Do This

Project Interfaith moves forward our vision and mission by:

  • Offering original and inspiring community building programs that educate and engage audiences on issues of faith, religion, identity, belief, and culture;
  • Advancing and safeguarding the fundamental rights and freedoms which enable a person to freely choose to practice or not practice a religion or belief system;
  • Ensuring access to reliable information and resources on religious & cultural diversity; and
  • Promoting objective teaching and learning about religion and religious & cultural diversity in age-appropriate, academic ways in schools, workplaces, and communities.

Organizational Values

At Project Interfaith, the core values that permeate our mission, leadership, and work are:

Relationship-centered

Relationships are at the heart of who we are and what we do. Building and sustaining relationships within and among diverse people and organizations is the foundation of our work. As such, we will endeavor to be mindful of the relationships that are involved and the impact that we will have both in the short and long term.

Integrity

Our mission can only be achieved if we conduct ourselves in an ethical, honest, and just manner that models for the community the attitudes, behaviors, and actions that we would like to promote. By doing so, we will foster greater respect, trust, and support for our mission and work.

Innovation

Innovation is key to our ability to reach diverse audiences and to keep our efforts fresh and engaging. We must be pro-active in anticipating the future, while also being responsive to the needs, challenges, and gaps that currently exist. We must be creative in our approach and in the work we do. We also must be fluid so that we may tailor our programs and services to the varied populations in the contexts that we serve.

Dynamism

Our ability to generate energy and excitement about our mission and work is critical to grow. We must be a positive catalyst for change and can only do so if we imbue our efforts with passion, energy, and purpose.

Inclusiveness

We strive to build a world that is inclusive and respectful of people of all religious beliefs and identities, as well as for atheists or those who do not affiliate with a religion. To achieve our mission, we must work to make our communities safe, inclusive, and integrated in all other aspects of diversity and identity.

Excellence

We will infuse excellence in all that we are and do. Being a trusted, dependable source for high-quality programs and services will enable us to expand our impact and to lead.

Empowerment

We strongly believe in the capacity of others to lead and excel. We will provide opportunities within our organization and work for all people to become involved in our mission. This demands that we be transparent and accessible at all levels. Only then can we truly create in the community a sense of pride, ownership, and investment for Project Interfaith.

Our Bottom Line

These values enable us at Project Interfaith to embody and model our vision for the community through our policies, programs, and actions. Community members will only develop a sense of pride, investment and ownership in Project Interfaith if they see both themselves reflected in the composition of the organization and our vision and mission realized through our behavior and actions.
