Co-sponsored by Project Interfaith and The Hindu Temple
Sunday, February 13th, 2011, 2:00 - 5:00 pm
Hindu Temple 13010 Arbor Street, Omaha, NE 68144
An optional tour of the Temple will follow the study circle from 5:00 - 5:30 pm
Come meet your neighbors! Join us as we explore the role of sacred texts in Hinduism, Roman Catholicism and Protestantism traditions. Learn about the various approaches for interpreting and understanding them as we look at two stories central to these traditions: the birth stories of Krishna and Jesus.
No previous study of Hinduism or Christianity is necessary. Participants will be asked to do light reading in preparation for participating in this program.
This event is open to the public. We will limit the study circle to 70 participants. Register now as space is limited. Registration closes on Monday, February 7, 2010.
$10 for non-students
$5 for students with ID.
Should this fee pose a hardship, please contact Beth Katz at (402) 933-4647 or beth@projectinterfaith.org.
Recap of Event:
Project Interfaith’s Hindu-Christian Study Circle had a full house. Participants joined us for a program that explored selections from the Christian and Hindu texts about the birth stories of central figures in each religion. Dr. Paul Williams of UNO, Dr. Wendy Wright of Creighton, and Mr. Anil Srivinasan of the Omaha Hindu Temple led the discussion as participants were able to question and discuss parallels and differences in the two stories. The participants were also led on a tour of the Omaha Hindu Temple at the close of the program. Overall, it was a very enlightening and enjoyable program with a wonderful turnout. Thank you to everyone that made it such a successful event!
Join us for "Show Your Love,” a coffee and tea tasting to celebrate and support the missions of Project Interfaith and Urban Abbey on Tuesday, February 28 at 7:00 pm. More Info
Project Interfaith has been awarded a $100,000 Challenge Grant from the Peter Kiewit Foundation!
