Highlights and Milestones of Project Interfaith
· December 2004: Founder Beth Katz returns to Omaha with a passion and vision for starting a sustainable interfaith program
· April 2005: The Plains States Anti-Defamation League offers to serve as a fiscal agent for Project Interfaith and to provide office space when it launches
· December 2005: Project Interfaith is launched thanks to seed funding from Dr. Edward and Mrs. Sally Malashock
· May 2007: Project Interfaith blog launches
· April 2008: Project Interfaith formally incorporates and relocates its offices to the Collaborating Center
· October 2008: Project Interfaith logo developed and corporate colors adopted
· February 2009: Project Interfaith website launches
· April 2009: Project Interfaith is invited by the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAoC) to present on its work at the UNAoC’s Istanbul Forum
· September 2009: Project Interfaith establishes its second full-time staff position of the Development and Communications Director
· November 2009: Project Interfaith presents at the American Academy of Religions Annual Meeting on its work to increase the knowledge and skills educators possess to teach about religion and to instruct religiously and culturally diverse students
· December 2009: Project Interfaith is selected to present on its work at the Parliament of the World’s Religions, the largest interfaith gathering in the world, held in Melbourne, Australia
· February 2010: Project Interfaith launches its internship program
· May 2010: Project Interfaith is praised by Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs for its innovative use of social media to build interreligious and intercultural understanding in its report Bridging Babel: New Social Media and Interreligious and Intercultural Understanding
· September 2010: Project Interfaith kicks off the interview phase of its Community Mosaic Video Project with the hope of getting 150 videos
· October 2010: Project Interfaith is awarded the “Community Service” award by the Niagara Foundation for its work to build interreligious and intercultural understanding and respect
· March 2011: Project Interfaith ends the interview phase of its Community Mosaic Video Project with 720 videos, exceeding its target by 570 videos
· April 2011: Project Interfaith Founder and Executive Director Beth Katz is invited by the Obama Administration to the White House for a gathering of 50 Community Leaders where they were recognized for their contributions that strengthen American communities
· June 2011: Harvard University’s Pluralism Project identifies Project Interfaith’s Community Mosaic Video Project as one of the "Best Practices" of interfaith work in its 10-city mapping project and cites Project Interfaith’s work as “among the most innovative in the country”
· June 2011: Project Interfaith is awarded a $100,000 Capacity-Building Challenge Grant by the Peter Kiewit Foundation
· July 2011: Project Interfaith Founder and Executive Director Beth Katz is selected as one of 23 social entrepreneurs in the U.S., the UK, France and Canada to participate in the prestigious and highly-competitive Ariane de Rothschild Fellowship, a collaborative program to increase the scale and impact of promising social enterprises, put on by the business schools of Cambridge University, Cornell University and Essec in partnership with the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation
· October 2011: Project Interfaith establishes its third full-time staff position with the addition of a Program Coordinator
